Post All Star Break Offense

This offense has been pretty terrible since the All Star Break and it seems like the funk continues against one of the worst teams in baseball.  McHugh has had a decent season so far, but Peacock had an ERA over 5 going into last nights game and hadn't won a game since July 8th.  Heck, the last time he went into the 7th inning you have to go all the way back to June.

Since the ASB, the Angels are 24th in all of baseball with 164 runs scored.  They have a team batting average of .239 which is 26th in the majors.  This is atrocious play by this offense over the last 44 games.

The only reason we're winning games is because of our pitching.  Since the ASB, we have a team ERA of 2.85 which is 3rd best in MLB and have only allowed 129 runs which is good for 4th best in the majors.

I'm mad that they blew an opportunity to pick up a game on Oakland. They really need to dominate this part of their schedule. Last 13 games heavily favor Oakland as far as match-ups go and who they face

A's picked up half a game despite losing 2 of 3 to the Mariners while the Halos were facing the last place Astros. That's not what you want

I try to look at the positive in this and think, they can't be this bad for this long, can they?  I mean, it's been 45 games since the ASB and they have struggled mightily.  But this offense is way too good to struggle like this.  The playoffs are all about getting hot at the right time.  Here's hoping this offense will FINALLY put it together and get hot in the next week or two and carry that into October.  In the meantime, we can't be falling back into contention with the A's.

Just for comparison, pre-ASB they were first in MLB in runs scored and 3rd in MLB with a .269 team batting average.  Now they are bottom of MLB in both categories in the second half.  So we know this offense is capable of being good.  They just need to start doing it.

Trout was unlucky the last two years because of the Triple Crown year and not being in the playoff hunt last year. This year he's lucky because the White Sox are not in the playoff hunt and I think a lot of voters feel he's earned it with his play over the last three seasons. It would be nice though if he could put a good run together in September to make it a "no doubter", like Vlad did in 2004.

Look up the hitting categories and see where Trout measures. It's his to lose. Altuve has had a strong year, but his team has little success. Abreu will get ROY honors. I love Gordon and he's been clutch, but his overall numbers aren't close to Trouts. As Angels fans, we get frustrated with watching him struggle at times on a daily basis, but fans around the league see him as the MVP.
