I think some of it has to do with letting the ball get deeper and going the other way as well as not worrying about pulling monster hrs.  Especially with two strikes.

He's way ahead of Donaldson (and leads all of baseball) in fWAR.

The difference is that fangraphs uses UZR while B-Ref uses DRS for defense.

I think UZR is more closer to reality than DRS.

We are getting closer to Trout, Pujols, and Hamilton all hitting well at the same time, a rarity since April 2013.

Just need Pujols to supply some power, and we may well be set then. He is hitting the ball decently lately, just not much power although he gave one pitch a ride last night to near the warning track.

That + a first place/best record finish and maybe #1 in RBI's (he's 3 RBI's away from leading the league in it hitting at the #2 spot) guarantee's him the MVP.

I was at the game last night and he looked great. The home run got out in a hurry to the deepest part of the ballpark, but I was most impressed by his final at-bat. He was very patient and took the walk. He looked comfortable in the box.

This year made me really question the value of WAR in statistics.

We need Trout to be Trout and Hamilton to get got, coupled with the pitching we have received lately and we will could make a very deep run. Great pitching in the playoffs can be nullified if you have MVP type bats that step up like Trout and Hamilton.

Please explain to me the difference between DRS and UZR.

Do the A's shift more often and that screws up the DRS calculations when Donaldson fields a ball near SS?

If I had an MVP vote, I would vote for Josh Donaldson.  Anybody who has hit 17 walk off HR's is just nasty.
