Buerhle, Dickey...

Buehrle has been pretty bad in July and August and has looked like he's had a case of dead arm.

 

Along with his age and the large amount of money left on his contract, I wouldn't go near him.

Buehrle's ERA has been over 5 for the last two months.  Reverting to career norms.  Dickey, as an innings eater, would be nice.

That's because he pitches in a bandbox, and has to pitch in the AL East most of the time. His ERA at home during the last two months is 6.41. Granted, it hasn't been much better on the road but it's because of one really bad start in New York (which is a joke of a stadium). He's made a very solid career despite pitching most of his games in hitters' parks.

 

Not saying he's fantastic but he's still a damn solid pitcher. Well on his way to his 13th consecutive year with 200+ IP.

 

While we've got 2 rotation spots to fill, might as well check to see what Buerhle would cost them. If they take on his entire salary, probably not a whole lot. Then again, Arte may not want to do that. My guess is if he gets close to (or over) the luxury tax it will be for someone like Scherzer.

Come to think of it, Dickey's knuckler is harder than Moyer's "fastball".
