It amazes me how many people keep resurrecting names of franchises that failed here before (or their leagues did): Posse (CFL), Outlaws (XFL), Locomotives (UFL)...

So who will be the Captain & Alternate captains of Vegas Knights roster ?

I think teams will get certain players to waive their NMC & maybe Vegas takes a few of them for leadership roles & reaching the salary floor.

I really think that Vegas will go the cheaper route and look for RFA's and lower.  Bieska doesn't make sense for Vegas because he only has one year left on his contract.  And Brown, Vegas can get more if it's a trade.  Which might be possible since they can trade before they even have to draft.  So it might turn out to be something like, if you take Brown in the expansion, we will give you X and Y young players.  While Cogs might be exposed.  When you look at the Ducks situation, LW is a position that I don't think we can afford to lose.  Of course this offseason might fix that.

Liking this already about Foley.  He doesn't feed the rumor mill like the Ducks organization.

Locally he seems to be well liked and respected. He is a straight shooter who doesn't throw things out just to see his name in print. I also don't get the idea that he will meddle in player transactions.

hopefully it is an issue with Black Knights or Aces.  I'd love for him to be really thinking about Aces.

Different sport.  You have Giants in the NFL in NY, and Giants in the MLB in SF.  Kings in LA and Sacramento.  etc etc.

I hate Legion. There may also be an association with Legionnaire's Disease, which was rough on the tourism industry for a long time.

Not So Fast On Knights, Black, Grey, And Gold; Change Certainly Possible

Interesting on what goes into something simple as a name and colors.

It's strange how complicated this can get. When the Jacksonville Jaguars came into the NFL, the original helmet and uniform looked much different than what the team took the field in for the first game. The helmet was to have been silver with a teal center stripe bordered by gold and black stripes, with a leaping gold jaguar on the side. Jaguar Motor Company sued, saying that it looked too much like their corporate logo (and IMO, blew a major marketing opportunity).

The scary thing is that somebody in the league office had to sign off on them, as they do for any logo changes. The current helmet looks like they couldn't decide whether they wanted a gold or black helmet, so they opted for both. It looks terrible.

Seems like the people at T-Mobile Arena need to get their acts together.

I was listening to sports talk radio on the way home. A guy called in who went to the Team USA basketball game this weekend. He said that the traffic was horrendous. It took him an hour and a half to get parked. Once he got in, he went to will call to pick up his tickets, because that was the only option offered when he bought them. Will call wasn't marked, and no one seemed to know where it was. There were a lot of people frantically wandering around trying to figure out where to get their tickets. This guy said that he missed the entire first half - and the event was such a disaster that the organizers are offering refunds to anyone who was sent to will call.

Well, I guess it's better to have those issues now, than when the real games start.  But at least it sounds recoverable.  Well, except the parking.  If they sell even 12k season seats, that's a lot different than 12k people staying at the casino hotels and mozying over. 

Might be easier to park at somewhere like Flamingo or Westgate where the monorail stops and taking that to MGM then to NYNY.  Or even Monte Carlo and taking the tram to Excaliber and to NYNY.

They have had several concerts without apparent issues. No idea why this event was such a mess.
