They pretty much go through all the rules.  Most of which we knew.

Over the years we have heard so many stories: Arena and stadium projects that never put a shovel in the ground. A three-stadium sports complex that was never built. Even once the arena was under construction, there were still doubts that this would ever happen, or that whatever league was considering coming here would insist on conditions that the casinos, especially the sports books, would never agree to. Now the day has finally come. No longer the largest city in the country with no professional sports team.

This is a special day in the desert.

i think they should stick it to canada and the lame ass canadian media/writers (doughty for norris? pfft what a joke) and name them the Las Vegas Nordiques.

I was thinking about what the team would be named.  Obviously, Foley would like to name the team the Black Knights, since he is a West Point Grad.  Which is understandable, since he was the one that put up half a billion dollars for the team.

So I decided to look at the big military base in town.  Nellis.  And upon looking at who is stationed there, ran across the 561st Joint Tactical Squadron.  They don't seem to be a flying force, more of a technical squad.  But their logo is....

It isn't fair to West Point,  but whenever I hear Black Knights, I think of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

That would be just rad.....if the team were named the black knights.  And every time the opposing team scored a goal, and it's announced over the loudspeaker, Getzlaf with his first goal in twentieth game of the season, assisted by perry and kessler.  Getzlaf with his first goal.  The crowd chants it's only a flesh wound.

yeah i hope they go with more of a military thing than casino/gambling vibe.

nellis is a big deal in that area.

 Also, now my pens will be forced to deal fleury ahead of the expansion draft.

@mrwicked Yeah, he did a really good job.  Aces really says gambling, but he took in a military style that worked with the retro look.  Really they could go Aces, and still have Black Knights on the sleeves work also with the military theme.

right. i thought it was well done. you have to probably have some connection to casinos, but i like that its not like "the vegas gamblers" or something lame. that old school aircraft 40s/50s military vibe is really cool.

No doubt about it.  Tough though because flower is a beloved dude, team and fans.  And has a nmc so murray would have to be exposed.

Murray is going to be a great goalie for a long time, this probally forces the Pens make the right decision to keep Murray & get Fleury to waive his NMC.

Several people keep bringing up the name Aces. Aside from having a gambling connotation, it is also the name of Reno's baseball team. I have also heard the name Outlaws - and I don't know if a nod to the late XFL is where we want to go.
