Long Beach native and Cal alumnus Peter Tomasulo shares the lead with Matt Bettencourt after Round 1 in San Antonio.

Both are at -5. Tomasulo is the only player in the field with a bogey-free round.

 

Rory McIlroy is even par, four birdies and four bogeys on his scorecard.

McIlroy finished with three straight birdies to tie for the best round of the day (-5) and he is three strokes behind leader Billy Horschel.

Rory narrowly missed a 24-ft putt for eagle on 18.

 

Horschel has made 21 consecutive cuts, the current best streak on the Tour.

 

First-day leaders Bettencourt and Tomasulo each shot 1-over to go four strokes back of the leader.

 

The winner of this tournament gets the last open spot in the Masters.

McIlroy continuing where he left off yesterday, -2 through first three holes.

 

Furyk is -2 through two and both are one shot back of Horschel.

Yeah it is a cool course.  I only watch a little bit though because there is never anyone playing.  Can't wait for The Masters.

What a performance by Martin Laird...nine birdies, no bogeys, for a 63 and the win.

 

McIlroy had the second best round of the day at -6 and finished second, two shots back.
