Trade Options...

Besides our own in-house options which are either inexperienced and in Double A or veterans like Wolf and LeBlanc who are not that great, who out there would you go after (realistically). Who's available?

Shane Greene is a young pitcher on the Yankees. He's been talked about as part of a trade package for Darvish. What can we give NY in exchange for him? He had a pretty mediocre minor-league career but seems to be coming into his own in the bigs.

You give up the farm for Darvish. His cost in salary is acceptable. You give up whatever is needed from the minors to get him. A top of the rotation pitcher for players with potential, that's an easy one. We have the best record in baseball with 40 to play. GO FOR IT!!!

 

Then we would have Darvish for next 3 years, I believe.

 

Darvish, Weaver, Wilson, Shoemaker and Santiago keeps us competing until the end.

The Rangers would never trade him to us, even if we had another Trout to spare in the minors.

There is no way they are getting Darvish. They don't have the pieces in the farm first of all...his cost will be high considering he has a reasonable contract. Add in that Texas would need a ridiculous haul to even consider trading him within the division.

I don't think there are any real options out there. We are pretty much screwed.

 

Solid players in the NL would need to clear waivers like Colon or Kennedy, making it very difficult.

 

Don't really see any worthy candidates in the AL.

 

Really sucks that Skaggs went down as well.

Texas has financially screwed themselves for the next 5-7 years with the Fielder trade and profar can't seem to stay healthy. I believe that they realize that their window has closed and may start trading away pieces. It would take a big haul, but I think Darvish can be had.

Even if the Rangers were willing to trade Darvish, we don't have the pieces. Same goes with Hamels if he cleared waivers.

 

Any trade would start with Santiago and likely a solid position player, just to get the conversation rolling.
