The Reds are a good team, but that seems really extensive (10 K's/game factoring in game 1 being 1.5 games).

Angels hold the ML record for most strikeouts in a single game. 26 K's in a 20-inning game vs. Oakland in 1971. Vida Blue struck out 17 Angels all by himself.

One factor in this was horrible strike zones from all the umps. The Reds struck out a lot too.

But yeah...still too many Ks.

Angel hitters struck out 41 times in a four-game series vs. Oakland, July 9-11, 1971 (final day a doubleheader). 

 

26 in the first game as mentioned above, 9 in the second (against Catfish Hunter) and 3 each in the final two games.

That 20 inning 1-0 game was crazy.   Rudy May actually outpitched the eventual Cy Young winner, Vida Blue.

 

Rudy May was one that drove Halos fans crazy.   He could have ace stuff one outing, and then #4 stuff the next.

He eventually became more consistent, once he got to pitching for the Skanks later on in the 70s.

Faced Chapman in all three games. He lead MLB relievers in K's last year. Still way to many for a 3 game set.

Felt like Hamilton and Trumbo struck out 30 of the 36 times.

11 walks/ 36 strikeouts. It's one series. We had 7 walks in the first game.

Seems to reason that if the first 9 are very difficult, that things get easier after that.

Just find a way to go no worse than 4-5 in those first 9 games, and then take off from there.

 

Would be nice to be a few games over .500 in April for a change, instead of the seemingly usual under .500.
