Someone summed up the A's offense pretty well, they are all good fastball hitters that work counts.

In August, we have scored 3 or fewer runs in 5 of our 12 games, losing every one.

Oakland has scored 3 or less in 9 of 13, losing 6.

The difference has been that their SP has been good enough to pull out victories when their offense struggles.

It is the fewer that has been the biggest problem. Hard for your starters to win when your offense sits on their hands and get a solo home run in the 8th or shutout.

That was my point. Oakland has been able to win games even when their offense is sitting on their hands, not because of their bats.

They've only averaged .2 runs/game more than us this month

Smith has been fantastic but I'm not sure about him closing long term. Street is just ridiculous. He goes in there, does his thing, and goes home to his probably hot naked wife.

I still don't like how much they gave up for Street, but it was a playoff move, not a regular season one. Street coming in to close a 1 run lead in the postseason > anyone else the Angels already had.

Then sooner or later, pitchers with good command are going to refuse to throw their power hitters fastballs.

Same thing happened to Hamilton, very few fastballs = tanking OPS.
