Orange County Register: Angels catchers thrive with division of labor

Recommended Posts

I like ianetta as a hitter.

Conger is crap.

Iannetta is crap in the pitch framing / cERA department though. It's just like the old Mathis / Napoli platoon, except this time more fans are supportive of Mathis.

The C position is fine...Ianetta is better offensively, Conger is better with pitch calling/framing/throwing.  From the Catching position they are batting .247/.338/.716 with 28 2B 8 HR 54 RBI and throwing out pver 30% of runners attempting to steal.  The areas that suck a lot more are LF, 3B, and 1B

LF: .241/.297/.649

3B: .224/.289/.620

1B: .256/.307/.730

Obviously, not all AB's are Hamilton, Freese, and Pujols but gives you some idea how little production we've gotten out of those positions this season.
