Judgement Day for Wilson

Recommended Posts

My prediction is this season goes to waste on account of CJ Wilson in the rotation.  As I pointed out five days ago, he doesn't have bad starts, he has bad months.

He's too streaky to be dependable when it matters most, i.e. right now.

It looks like he's going to have a bad three months if management doesn't pull the plug soon.

What options do we have right now with this guy?

Bullpen? Eat the contract? (Not happening)

Disabled list already happened.

Dude still has 2 more years left on his contract and is almost 34 years old. If he doesn't figure it out very soon it's going to get ugly with this guy. There's no way you can keep him in the rotation over Santiago/Shoemaker/Skaggs.

At the end of the year, JD has to consider eating some money on the contract in order to move him. He's only going down hill it seems like.

CJ has to be one of the most overrated pitchers in the last few years.

There's no middle ground with that guy.  He's either lights out for months, or he completely sucks for months.  He's not dependable enough to be considered an ace, or a No. 2, even when he's pitching well.  Don't be fooled by his numbers in years past.

I could hardly understand his interview after last night's game. He was all over the place talking very fast. I think his problem is he thinks too much and over-analyzes everything. It was so complicated, long and incoherent descriptions of curveballs, location, spotting the ball on the corner, off the plate, etc etc etc. He jumped quickly from one point to another, and didn't really have any conclusions.

Throw strikes, dammit! That's what Ryu did all night.

this is hilarious. talk about bandwagoning. don't be fooled by his previous success.

any rational person knows who cj is as a pitcher. he's not pitching well enough right now, and he's been bad in the past, but he's been the angels most reliable starter for the term of his contract. he's an above avg. pitcher, who disappears and frustrates sometimes. you guys are going off the deep end, which is understandable, because the division/playoffs are on the line.

we need cj to get back to being really good again. he may be dl'ed, but he's not being released. we don't have anybody else to start for him. we're gonna ride or die with him. get used to the idea.

If he had conclusions he'd have the solution.

Why is it so hilarious?

1. When somebody like CJ pitches lights out for months, he can still suck for months and have respectable ERA and win/loss numbers.

2. CJ still strikes out lots of batters when he sucks.

3. CJ doesn't snap out of funks very fast; it takes a long time to regain his form.

4. CJ doesn't pitch efficiently when he sucks, but last night was an improvement in the right direction.  The start before that was an embarrassment though...he lasted 1.1+ innings and needed 50 pitches.

That's why he isn't an ace.  Besides not being dependable, he drags the team down with him whenever he sucks.

Which is kind of weird to me. He comes off (from interviews and quotes) almost cocky and arrogant. Its weird to think he would have confidance problems

Weaver has seen his fastball erode and still has a middle finger attitude. A guy like grienke has documented mental health issues, but seems super confidant. Arod had all the talent in the world but was beyond wrapped up in his image, etc

Someone needs to dlap him and tell him to snap out of it
