Just saw the contact play actually work! It may have had something to do two players who can't field their position so the Angels should take note the next time they try it themselves.

The five man infield sort of worked too.  Today was just the perfect storm.

I don't think I've seen the 5 man infield work either. I'm sure it has at some point but it seems more like an urban legend than fact...like waking up in bathtub full of ice missing a kidney.

I don't have a problem with the 5-man infield but I don't understand why not to load the bases. Pretty sure Ianetta and Freese don't blow that if it's a force.

Although it's probably just too tempting to pitch to Ethier.

 

I think they just preferred Ethier to Gordon.
