Hey, look at the bullpen development this season.

The guy is a GB machine.    Just needs to return to being the control guy he used to be. 

 

Even if he's stored at AAA through August, and called up in September if showing a semblance of the old Jim Johnson

 

Okay, I am probably rambling.    It's crazy though how much he fell this season, while still only 31.

It's not like he ever had crazy good stuff.  A late innings reliever that didn't really strike guys out a relied heavily on the ground ball.  That's just opportune for a stretch of bad luck and if the fastball stops sinking a bit then he is really screwed.  Looks like what happened.

He's like Frieri, he has only 1 good pitch and when that doesn't work, he's screwed.

True, the difference though is while Frieri's heat had little movement even when on, Johnson's 95mph sinker is nasty when on.

You would have to get rid of someone in the bullpen to bring him in. I wouldn't mess with what is working. I doubt he signs with someone on a minor league contract. There are teams out there that need bullpen help that will offer him a major league contract.
