Rosenthal: Price to the Tigers

It's funny that all the Ray fans are calling for Friedman's head when the return wasn't bad at all. He got a cheap MORP, a high-ceiling SS prospect, and a second baseman who isn't far removed from being a solid prospect. The teams with the most coveted pieces aren't in contention and it wouldn't really make sense for them to go after Price. And I imagine the Dodgers didn't want to part with Pederson or Seager.

Yeah, I probably would. I was laughing at the Morales part.

Still an upgrade over what they were running out there. If he finds his timing after taking so much time off he will pay dividends. He isn't worth the $14 million or whatever the Twins gave him, but he is certainly a solid bat too have.

the tigers are good, but an offense that relies on two hitters and a bad bullpen will cost you when it matters most. A's are the favorite, angels 2nd.

Heck, the O's might be just as serious of a threat as the Tigers.   They have a better bullpen, a great defense, timely hitting with solid sock, and a rotation without aces but also without a pronounced weakness.

Kendrys is batting .091 with an ops of .296 with the M's

Since this trade:
Smyly: 3-1, 1.73 ERA, 0.720 WHP

Price: 2-2, 3.86 ERA, 1.160 WHIP

Price's numbers do not include today's game where he has given up 4 ER in 1 IP. Detroit was in first place when the trade was made. They are now a half game back of the wild card. Not what people were expecting from this trade.

Angels with Grienke, Oakland with Lester, and Tigers with Price all plummeted after these trades. And they all improved their teams too, just completely random.

I would say the A's didnt improve themselves.  They lost a big part of their offense for a guy that plays once every five days.  The Tigers gave up their center fielder, and a solid young starter for another starter who hasnt performed that well for them.  The Angels trade for Greinke made the most sense.  Its not random at all.  When you trade key parts of your team for a starting pitcher its not much of an improvement.
