Trout is really struggling

Recommended Posts

when there is a strike that an opposing pitcher can throw that a player isn't very good at hitting, you can bet they are going to exploit that.

there are going to be times where he's not seeing the ball well and pitchers seem to be able to hit that spot consistently.  He's gonna struggle during those times.

To me, there is a way out of it, but most people aren't going to like it.  Swing at the first pitch more often.

Not all the time, but just enough to where they are afraid to groove strike one.  When he isn't going good, he is constantly behind in the count because of that strike one down broadway fastball.  Make them think about it.

I also think he tends look breaking ball too much with two strikes and he whiffs a lot on the fastball.

So there it is.  Hitting advice to the best baseball player in the world from a Radiologist with internet access.

He may be the best player but if you look at his heatmap he has a big hole in his swing.

And pitchers are eventually going to catch on to either go really low or high in the zone against Trout.

That appears to be a first pitch strike. He has been way too passive and letting pitchers groove first pitch center plate as a free pitch. I am a little surprised Baylor hasn't broke Trout of this habit of treating his first pitch like a spectator.
