Fuld has been doing very well lately. Isn't he also very good defensively? A's making sure that nobody can touch them when it comes to run prevention. Deepest staff in the league and a very good team defense to go along with shutdown pen.

They already had a formidable rotation,,, even before Smardjia, now this... but losing Cespedes is huge in my opinion.
The man has literally and figuratively saved or won more games for them than they lead us by, and 2 of them against us i think.
Losing that bat in their lineup will mean the other guys wont get as many hittable pitches, i think their overall offensive numbers drop due to this
i could be wrong of course, wouldnt be the firs time, but i dont think this is a game changer

At any rate, though I agree cespedes is overrated, hes still pretty solid. And I think fenway may help him.

 

His career OPS at Fenway is 150 points lower than in Oakland

 

edit: Okay, forget that. Very small sample size in Fenway.

Gonna be even tougher for Halos to pass them up with them throwing Kazmir, Gray, Lester, Samardzija out there. With that staff, they could have Blanton as the 5th starter and it wouldn't matter

Their farm system is barren and many of these guys are about to get much more expensive. Another long rebuilding period is likely in order.

Wow, forgot about that. Surprising they gave Milone up for that. Sure, stuff wise he's a #4 or #5 starter but the guy is young and has a solid MLB resume.
