PEPBOYS - anyone ever had them install a car battery?

Recommended Posts

It's a battery FFS.  You loosen the harness holding the battery in and the two battery cables, remove them, lift the battery out, put the new one in, connect negative first then positive and you are done.

are you required to wear a shirt that has your name on it while doing this? or maybe carry a red rag in your back pocket?

The battery is on the right under that other stuff.

So waited until this morning to try the jump and nothing - car wouldn't turn over at all (yesterday I got the clicking). Tow and replacement battery = ~$150.
Do not hire Blair's towing!

And then you return the old one to the dealer so you can get your core deposit.

Or if the installation is free you just let them do it.  FFS.

If your battery is dying that often, then it's probably not the battery.  You really need to have the alternator and possibly wiring checked.  Might also be a wire connector that easily comes loose and then reconnects itself.

Sometime a failed voltage regulator can do the same thing.

Last battery I bought was installed by Auto Zone for free. The guy carried it to the parking lot, installed it in the car and took my old battery. Have had good luck with the Duralast battery.
