We have a lot of homegrown talent on this team but we also have some "imported" big-name (and big dollar) players - Pujols, Hamilton, and Wilson - who probably won't come close to living up to their contracts while still putting up decent numbers.  Those three alone account for $44 million this year and that number will continue to climb, exponentially.  We have the fourth highest payroll.  I just hope we don't have the same results as in the 80s.

Pujols deal will turn out to be worse than GMJ and Wells deals.............

 

It will turn out to be worse than the Yankees 10 year ARod contract, ie, the worst contract of all time. Best case scenario is we get a world series this year or next and that Pujols contributes to that, smilar to ARod in '09. 

 

No way will we get anyone to absorb even a significant fraction of the money owed to Pujols in a trade the way we did with GMJ and Wells.
