Will Muschamp Official Countdown to Firing Thread

Recommended Posts

There were allegations of a sexual assault. The news that came out said that the accuser had apparently been dating Harris and she was upset that he was with another woman. She had also had sex with another man an hour or so before the alleged incident occurred. She is an athlete at UF but as far as I know neither her name nor her sport has been disclosed. There was no arrest and the charges were dropped. What actually happened, only those two people know for sure.

More of that legendary Muschamp discipline. This supposedly happened at around 3:00 AM on Sunday after the team returned from Knoxville.

Jeff Driskel justified my faith by throwing an interception with about 35 seconds left and overtime looming. He led yet another comeback. This one was for LSU.

Lsu is so young. They're gonna be good in the coming seasons

Idk how mus is putting his coaching future in the hands of driskel

Their QB is erratic but has a lot of potential. Driskel is erratic but he's a junior, so I believe that what we see is what we get.

LSU is playing a bunch of kids because they graduated everybody. Anybody who wants to get their shots in at them had better do it now. Unlike Florida they have competent coaching and they can develop players.

It has to happen. Now.

I just finished watching the Gators' 42-13 loss to Missouri at Homecoming, the first time since the 1940s that Florida has lost two consecutive homecoming games (last year's recipient of the Gators' generosity was Vanderbilt, who had not won in Gainesville since 1945). Just the latest of several precedent-setting and record-breaking achievements for the former Georgia defensive back turned Florida head coach.

Until a couple of garbage touchdowns late (the extra point was blocked on the second one, an appropriate cherry on this turd sundae of a game), the Gators trailed 42-0 to a team who:

- Lost at home to Georgia 34-0 last week

- Had 119 yards of total offense, including 20 yards passing

- Had seven first downs for the game

If Jeremy Foley doesn't can Muschamp after this, he needs to pack his own bags as well. Come to think of it, that wouldn't be a bad idea in either case. Then he wouldn't choose the next Gators' head coach.

The odd thing was that Florida's offense was just as predictable as it has been all season long. Why Georgia was unable to stop it even knowing what was coming is one of life's mysteries. Mark Richt usually drops one game a year that he shouldn't, and this falls into that category.

AD Jeremy Foley was running around the sidelines like a five year old at Christmas, hugging everyone in sight. Considering that this is Muschamp's only win against Georgia in four tries, this really cannot be enough to save him, unless Foley is more concerned about his own ego than the football program.

To throw another log on the fire, the Gator blog Gator Bait reported that Florida has the lowest ranked recruiting class in the entire SEC for 2015, and they also have the fewest committed signees. CBS reported during the Georgia telecast that the only reason it isn't worse is that several players wanted to decommit but found that their other offers are now gone.

This has to be it. It HAS to be. Will Muschamp erased all the good feelings of Florida's first victory over Georgia in four years by snatching defeat from the jaws of victory today in a 23-20 overtime loss to South Carolina at home. It wasn't just that he lost, it was how he lost.

With the Gators leading 17-10 and needing a first down to run out the clock, Muschamp went ultra conservative. Predictably, South Carolina stuffed three running plays and forced Florida to punt with less than a minute left. The Gamecocks blocked the punt, setting them up in Florida territory. A long completion later and they were knocking on the door. A touchdown with 13 seconds left sent the game into overtime. An earlier special teams failure saw a field goal attempt blocked with 3:30 left.

In the overtime period, once again, Muschamp played not to lose. Three running plays gained almost nothing, and a field goal preceded a South Carolina touchdown that sealed it. Muschamp played not to turn the ball over, and Steve Spurrier played to win the game.

The Gamecocks were in free fall before coming to Gainesville. Muschamp's run-run-run-punt offense played right into their hands.

Monday. Please.
