No Gwynn tribute during ASG

I'm guessing they felt if they did something for Gwynn, then it would be bad form to not do something for Zimmer or Welch.

Every year the Oscars set aside the self congratulations and ass kissing to run a short film of past actors passing.

Last night they could have taken two minutes from the Jeter blow job to put up a Montague of players that passed away since the last all star game on the big screen. Instead we get more players interviews of how Derek touched their lives

MLB, Fox and Selig have no sense of the moment.

Okay, my real opinion. It was thoughtless. Almost like they thought it would soil the good name of Derek Jeter to mention something sad on his big day. Whatever the reason. Gwynn, Zimmer, Fregosi, Welch, all deserved a mention. All were All Stars multiple times, including Gwynn's 15 appearances.

It just feels like something needed to be said in the least.

That said, Fox can do whatever they want. And you know for damn sure, they won't apologize if they thought they were disrespectful.

He was an integral part of what, five World Series champs?  Its worth something.  Its worth a lot.

He made maybe the most iconic on-the-field play of this generation in the playoffs, the flip in the playoffs that caught the Oakland guy.

And look at who are the most revered players of the past decade: Ripken, Gwynn, Jeter... it DOES matter when you stay your entire career w one team.

Not a Jeter hater here. It's hard to hate on the guy except for being a Yankee and receiving over the top praise. The 'flip' only became iconic because Jeter did it. If Tejada made that play, it would be almost forgotten by now.

Put the tribute to dead guys on in place of God Bless America during the seventh inning stretch. Either will bring the proceedings to a dead halt anyways.

Or the five minute rendition of 'Forever Young' in between the introductions of the teams and the national anthem that left all the players standing on the field for 20 minutes or so.
