EDIT: As for Reynolds, he's a step up from McCarver in my book.  We would have heard much more about Jeter if McCarver was still around.

Not the dumbest claim I've heard. In one of the Angels games against the White Sox I was only able to watch the Chicago feed. One of their announcers (I don't think I have to say which one) claimed that Bryce Harper would be the best player in MLB if he had remained healthy because "Baseball is a left handed game".
