Robinson Cano fires Boras

The reason for $10 beers is because that is the price enough people are willing to pay for them. It is the "market price."

Back in the day Arte Moreno used to have among the cheapest beers in the Majors. It was a great marketing strategy that made the people happy to save $1-2 on beer therefore they would not notice they were getting grossly overcharged for seats. Now the DBacks are following that strategy. They're advertising on the radio that the DBacks have the cheapest ballpark beers in the country (14oz domestics for $4)

If you honestly think the astronomical prices of anything at the stadium doesn't have something to do with what the players are being paid and that it is all "market price", you understand nothing about economics.

i'm just glad Boras' players had to wait longer to sign than in the past.

I would say the owners are learning, except Cleveland's still gave 4 years/$48 million to a guy (Bourn) who is just the next level up from Bourjos.   He steals more bases and gets on base more often, but not at a clip making his contract anything close to worth it.

Not to mention they gave 4 years/$56 million to a guy on the wrong side of 30 with just above average numbers (Swisher) who is inconsistent in the outfield.

We pay astronomical prices because we are willing to. This allows the owners to pay their players absurd salaries. It's not rocket science.

Anyone think Arte would charge less for beer if salaries were lower? He charges the price that he feels maximizes revenue. I don't fault him for that, free market capitalism. I don't even fault him for jacking the price of my tickets every single year. I just wish he wouldn't.
