exactly what we hoped Blanton would be.  Very rarely is he brilliant but rarely is he abysmal.  He's just good and steady--keeps us in games and lets his offense go to work.  He's a very nice fit at the 5.  I expect a little regression but even with some regression he'd still be effective for the Angels.

 

It's nice to have a guy like him.

I think the thing that has held us back since 09 has been development of pitching.....Since Nick Adenhart, we've had a drought in organizational pitching.....Some of it has been traded away--Corbin, Skaggs, etc...but all of sudden, you have Richards and Shoemaker bust through and look where we are....I know the offense is good but pitching is what gets you over the top....Still would like to see us develop some bullpen help (may be on the way) but Richards and Shoemaker have been huge this year....Not a coincidence that the Braves, Cards, Rays and A's have been consistently good....they develop pitchers....
