The Yanks are in pure unabated panic mode.

I wish we had a weak 30yo back of the rotation starter to trade them right now.

They have one position player in their starting lineup under 30 - Yangervis Solarte.

They are about to lose their captain to retirement

Sabathia is done for the year and possibly his career.  Even if he comes back he will never be the same.

Nova and Pineda are on the 60 day DL as well.

Their farm system is a disaster although at least they recognized they could try to buy their way to a new one with the International pool.

They just took on a boatload of old guy money.

If they are going to even remotely remain competitive, they are going to have to spend ungodly amounts of cash.

It's actually a good thing that no one else is really taking control of that division so they can continue to think they have a chance.

And Solarte was sent to AAA earlier this week.

i like that they yankees always want to win, but as the gambler once said, you've got to know when to hold them, know when to fold them.

it's time to fold them. this year is not their year. next year ain't looking so good, either.

not a bad deal IMO -- change of scenery trade is right.

McCarthy has been effective in the past, Nuno less so -- Nuno's success always seemed pegged to being on a good team, the Yankees (at the time of his most effectiveness).

McCarthy has pitched well and, yes, a fly ball type pitcher at times, but I think McCarthy will give the Yankees some innings and win a few starts down the stretch.

Nuno?  D-Backs are playing out the string already for 2014.......

Well Soriano was awful

He's bad, but it's disrespectful and in poor taste to DFA him this late in the season. The aren't even that good to begin with, so it doesn't make a difference.
