Good question. I'd be awfully tempted but probably wouldn't in the end. It would hurt the team long-term, even though improving it short-term (this year). If you look at all the players currently on the 25-man roster, Kole is probably the third or fourth most valuable player to the team in terms of future value after Trout, Richards, and maybe Skaggs.

 

How about Cowgill for one of them?

No, Calhoun is a valuable long-term asset to this club. Under club control till 2020, it would be very unwise to trade him, in my opinion.

 

I would counter with Cowgill.
