That would be an absolutely pointless trade. The Angels have more than enough OF depth (unless Cowgill or Calhoun are being traded for something else) and giving up Jepsen for Thatcher is just stupid. As much as I rag on Jeppy, he has been good this year. They need to add to the solid pieces in the pen, not replace one of them.

Thatcher is a good LOOGY, but he's a rental and Campana is pretty much a AAAA guy who can run really fast and not much else.

I'm on board with Thatcher and Ziegler.  Unfortunately I don't see that happening.  It'll probably turn out to be some head scratcher like Thacher for Jepsen.

This really doesn't make sense to me. Campana is a singles/doubles hitter that doesn't really add value to the team (unless there was a trade for another OF planned) and Thatcher is a relatively cheap rental at about $1.3MM.

 

Jepsen has been doing well this season (and it pains me to admit that) and it would seem counter-productive to move him for another bullpen piece.

 

Just seems odd unless there is some greater trade at work.

No need to deal Jepsen for a LOOGY. Kind of defeats the purpose of dealing for that LOOGY.
