kind of sad really.  He's a good dude and he's in the national league so I'm not going to take pleasure in his failing.

 

That being said I'm glad that it looks like Dipoto got the better of this one.  

Yep, was hoping to see both him and Grilli dominate with their new teams. Definitely glad we don't have to witness this anymore though.

From what I understand, they may have messed with his mechanics to make his breaking ball more effective.  Obviously it didn't work.  At some point, someone is going to get him straightened out and get his fastball moving again with improved velocity.  My guess is that they will have him working on a changeup and cutting the original fastball from his previous arm slot.  

 

Check out his vertical and horizontal release points and how they have changed this year

At some point, he's got a good chance to be an effective reliever again.  The Angels just don't have the luxury to wait.
