When will the FO quit screwing around and trade for Stanton?

Recommended Posts

Honestly a package of Richards, Calhoun and Lindsey would get it done.

Replace Richards with Skaggs and add Borenstein and maybe.

These are both funny. I love trade suggestions like this that seemingly forget that there are 28 other teams, most of whom can field a much more alluring package for the Marlins.

There's no way the Angels can get Stanton. I agree that a package would have to start with Richards, but we honestly don't have the top tier talent in the minors to complement him. Maybe in a year if a few players mature as hoped, but the Marlins would require some truly elite prospects which the Angels simply don't have.

the angels don't have enough to give for stanton

the packages suggested in this thread are hilarious, btw

agreed. richards would be a good start as a young major league pitcher that's killing it, but it would take a top ten prospect and probably another top 50 to get him. the angels have richards, but they don't have the rest.

Does anyone find it odd that all of these 'packages' involve 'richards'?

Angels have zero shot to trade for stanton. (Not to mention if they did, it wouldnt make sense since were set in the outfield and would have to weaken pitching)

That said, I fully believe hes targetted in 2 years when he hits FA.the angels already tried to make a move on him last year, so I assume hes big on their radar

i think most, including myself, aren't saying we should or would trade richards, but are responding to the idea in general. the fact that he's by far our most attractive piece outside of trout, meaning he's young, good and cost controlled is why he's universally included in a stanton scenario. i know the angels aren't going to be trading for stanton.

the real crux of my previous post is that we don't have the top ten prospects to get it done anyway.

Stanton is supposedly having a career year, and Trout still has a better OPS/WAR/WPA than him being 2 years younger lol.

Why would we trade for another bat (especially a bat that requires us to trade away our own home grown #2 pitcher?) when we have pitching issues?
