Taylor Lindsey, 2b, Angels

SO/BB: 1.04. SO: 11.4%. BB: 11.0%.

First Half: .233/.324/.368 in 255 PA at Triple-A Salt Lake.

Though his batting line doesn’t shine, Lindsey improved his SO/BB ratio to the best mark of his career in the first half. In fact, the only second-base prospects who bested him were the aforementionedMookie Betts and Tommy La Stella. Lindsey hit just .245 on balls in play, however, which dragged his batting average through the mud. If he maintains his plate awareness and hits into better luck in the second half—and if Triple-A pitchers didn’t find a way to exploit Lindsey’sunconventional swing mechanics—he can get his average up near the .280 of which he’s capable.

The Angels will need to make a decision on Kendrick, Green, Lindsey and Yarbrough soon, probably within the next year or this next offseason.  At this point, I think what's likely going to happen is...

1. Yarbrough will be dealt this offseason or trade deadline.

2. Green will become a utility infielder that starts at a different spot every day.  Monday-LF, Tuesday-3B, Wednesday-SS, Thursday-2B, Friday-1B, Saturday-DH

3. Kendrick will play out his contract with the Angels which is this year and next year.

4. Lindsey will make cameo appearances but be their regular 2B beginning in 2016.

One thing that people seem to be overlooking is the fact that Howie Kendrick can be given another extension.

I think Howie likes Anaheim, wants to play with Mike Trout (he was one of the first players to wear the trout hat), and would be willing to take a team-friendly contract to continue playing here.

Then Howie would be the primary 2B, Green the super-utility, and Lindsey and Yarbrough could both become trade pieces if necessary. Someone like Tommy Field could play in a pinch if there were injuries.
