His stuff doesn't profile in the back of the pen like others do though according to Sciosica, so...you know, just don't expect him to be as good as some of the greats like Jepsen and Kohn.

In another thread, I also pointed out that Morin had 28 saves in the minors in 2013-2014 over a total of 65 appearances.

He has more extensive closer experience in the minors than Bedrock Jr. had. Bedrock Jr. only closed for maybe a month in the minors this season.

That looks like three pitches actually in the strikezone. Several umpire assisted strike calls which led to a batters ejection.

When I look at that pitch graph, no, I do not want him to close. This is not painting corners, AO. There are only 3 borderlines that were strike call pitches. He faced the bottom of the order of a poor Texas team and they got themselves out. Against Oakland that would have been bases jammed with runners all on walks with no outs.

Hollywood, your being ridiculous again, that was a bunch of scrubs in the 10th getting themselves out or hit by pitches. You guys gripe about the Angels talent evaluation but when the tools are in your hands all you do is beat yourselves over the heads with them like a bunch of monkeys. Morin was not in control of most of his pitches. It worked out well because Texas was not in control of their bats.

All closer's innings are small sample sizes. This one samples as being all over the map and yet everyone thinks it doesn't mean anything because he found a way to get three outs with only maiming one player. Takes this pitch plot and apply it to 40 games and you won't see 3 outs.

 

Can he pitch better? Probably. Did he pitch well last night, not really but the competition didn't bat well against him.
