Was just released from his independent league club after hitting under .100 in 28 games.

 

Though I'm not sure why they have a photo of what looks like Ianetta...it's not like it would be tough to find a photo of Wood striking out.

It's one thing to to hit minor-league fastballs. It's another thing entirely to connect with major-league pitching.

 

Of course, now he can't hit anything. I'd love to see him take a breather, get some good coaching, and come back and play in the majors again. Nicest guy around.

I actually stopped feeling bad for the guy when he didn't want to go to winter ball because he didn't want to change his wedding plans. To think his wife thought she was marrying a major league ballplayer.

This is amazing to me how someone once in MLB (granted briefly and poorly) cant perform better than that in a independant league.

I wonder how he would do in a beer league?

McPherson was largely a victim of a series f brutal injuries. Wood's demise was the complete lack of hitting anything off speed.

Back in 2004, when they hype was peaking, I may have or may not have become a male stripper for a brief moment and called myself brandons wood.

yea this is sad news.  I feel bad for the guy.  Hope that he can find success in other endeavors.
