Ian Stewart and Ibanez

just .143/.249/.259 on the year and is homer-less in his last 125 plate appearances. The only thing keeping

Seriously?  Even if we get rid of Ibanez............we get Ian Stewart?

I wouldn't put Stewart back on the 25 man roster. I would also have not signed Ibanez so that is how much I influence front office decisions.

History should tell us some shouldn't it?  Dipoto has historically been enthralled by young talent and Scioscia has historically been hung up on washed up old guys.

First you know he wasn't the one that chose Pujols and Wilson.

 

Iannetta and Burnett were < 30 years old when signed.

 

Skaggs, Santiago, Richards (bumped him from AA), Morin, Bedrock, Salas, etc.

 

FA signings are always going to be older guys, otherwise they wouldn't be a FA.

Well Scioscia did cost us the 2002 WS by pitching veterans in the playoffs over a recently called up K-Rod.

Teflon Jerry gets a pass again.  Honestly for you only the good moves is he responsible for.  Any bad moves are the fault of Moreno or Sosh.  It really is remarkable.

All but said?  Doesn't matter, the logic that Dipoto is some milquetoast caught between two power hungry maniacs is truly mind-numbing.  The fact that you blame Sosh for every bad move this team makes is what is amazingly ridiculous, couple that with only Dipoto getting credit for the good moves and it really is logic at its very worse.

Anyway I am not going to go down this road again.  Dipoto has made some terrible moves, the biggest being Blanton.

 

I can forgive dumb and questionable pitching changes or lack of.  But Scioscia continuing to start Ibanez and batting him cleanup is inexcusable.  Ibanez is fine as a veteran lefty off the bench or a once a week starter.  He should be fired for that alone.

 

Expecting Dipoto to make all the right moves with no farm system is hilarious.  No GM on the planet could have turned this team around.  It will take years.  I would much rather allow Dipoto that than to have Scioscia sabotage this team for yet another year.

If you look at all the best teams in baseball, a big portion of their roster came from developing young talent, or acquiring it through trade.  The Angels did the opposite for years, especially with Reagins and then the Greinke trade.  Dipoto seems to have learned from that considering he hasn't dumped any more young talent for vets.
