Orange County Register: Angels Frieri predicts victory against lucky A's

Recommended Posts

So winning back to back division championships is luck? The A's are still sitting on top of the AL West and Ernesto gives them locker room material after they swept us? I don't think that there was any luck involved with this home run. Geez Frieri what are you talking about.

Im hoping he would not make comments like these without having the backing of the team.  If thats the case, its good to see that kind of spirit in the locker room.  That said, it would be cool if he backed it up a notch.  Hope it does not turn out to be an embarrassment.

I've stopped with the A's are lucky. They are great team. They go out every night knowing they are going to win.

The best team I ever saw was the 1975 Reds. That team had a run differential of +254. The A's are at  +129 at the 63 game mark. That's an insane number. The Angels have only had a run differential for a season better than that twice. 2002 & 1982. They are a model organization from the ownership on down and I would love to see what Beane could do with a top 5 payroll, but that will probably never happen.

The A's are allowed to claim small market despite being in one of the country's largest population zones. Beane was allowed to punt half a decade and is called brilliant despite his glaring lack of rings.

They are a good team playing great baseball but not some unbeatable juggernaut. Bottom line is that it's time for the Angels to start beating the AL West like they do the rest of the league and let everyone else talk about luck.

Real tough talk from a guy who's afraid to throw his slider.

he is throwing the slider about 19% of the time this season which is almost twice as often as last season and a career high. Edited by Eric Notti

Does Frieri play as well as Trout? This guy doesn't even trust his own breaking ball...

He quit throwing the curve two years ago. He never developed any control with it in the first place and went with a slider instead. He also doesn't throw a knuckleball in case your wondering.

He doesn't have to be Mike Trout to have the same attitude that he can beat anyone.
