Freese's Trumbo-esque work with the glove would be easier to take if he could hit. But he can't. Thank God we gave up Grichuk and Bourjos to get him :/

I thought we were finally past people pretending that bourjos and grichuk are good.

At least Bourjos was one of the best OF'ers in the game and  could be used to shore up the defense, could bunt and made one heck of a pinch runner.

Remember how arte didn't want beltre??

Remember when Beltre was an injury risk? Remember when Beltre had a five year deal with Seattle and played well in two of those years.

Funny how baseball works. No way to tell at the time they made these deals, but this team would be better off if Green was at 3B and Cron was at DH rather than Freese/Ibanez

Yep. Bourjos as fourth outfielder Grant green at third would be a lot more valuable than using green in the outfield. Either that or we could have traded Bourjos for a bullpen long man type player.

I check this site every day to see if Ibañez has been released.

So now can we say that since we have Greene, Cowgill and Navarro as depth then we traded from a position of depth to acquire an under performing third baseman and a relief pitcher?

Bourjos 2014: .204/.274/.310/.584

He wouldn't be any kind of solution for this Angels ballclub.

2011 is the outlier in his MLB career whether some want to acknowledge it or not

We've been thru this several times.  It's not really even about Bourjos.  This is about depth and using that to your advantage.

They had redundancy that provided no value to the team but had some value on the market.  They took that value and actually turned it into a net negative to the major league club.

When did Bourjos learn to bunt?
