Angels Official Website: Cron, Green battling to stay when Hamilton returns

Recommended Posts

It's criminal that they're debating which .900+ OPS guy to send down with a 42 year old that plays shit defense hitting .153 on the roster. I know the Ibanez posts are getting pretty broken-record at this point, but holy hell.

I bet this wouldnt even be a topic if a situation like this happened with the A's. They would do the right thing and dump Ibanez. The fact that one of these two will be sent down by the Angels to keep Ibanez is ridiculous!

What a load of bull... seriously, there is no reason to keep Ibanez on the roster over Green or Cron at this point. He hasn't done much of anything at all this year to justify a spot on the roster, and I dont see that changing. He done. This shouldn't be a hard decision to make. I don't care if the other guys have options they need players that can produce.

I could live with giving him some time and keeping him on the roster while Hamilton/Calhoun were out, but there's just no way to excuse it anymore. He sucks and we have better, more flexible options. Just ship him off to the retirement home already.

Just a little snippet from the season so far:

May 26
Ibanez not in the starting lineup. Cron 2-4, 2 RBI, 2 runs, Angels win 6-4. Ibanez pinch-hits, 0-1

May 27
Cron on the bench after a home run and double in the previous game. Green on the bench. Ibanez, batting 5th, goes 0-3. Angels lose, 3-1.

I know, small sample size, but what if Ibanez plays all year instead of Cron or Green, hits below .200, and we lose out on the playoffs by a couple games?
