I think we all got on his case after that bad 3rd inning and thought "oh boy here we go again" but he bared down and shut the Royals down the next 4 innings, allowing the Angels to come back and tie it.

 

Dude has some grit out there, that's for sure.

he's a rotation guy for us, has the confidence and can survive some early inning struggles.

 

he's really developed into a rotation guy this year.......and GEEZ did we need that to happen.......

 

if he stays healthy he can be counted on for the rotation for a number of seasons now......

Yep, which is good to see from a young starter. He let his frustration get the best of him in that 3rd inning and seemed to focus too heavily on the base runners rather than the hitter at the plate. After getting out of it though, he was dominant.

He went on an absolute roll after that 3rd inning. His biggest issue in that 3rd inning was he was entirely too concerned about the baserunners. He must've stepped off at least 10 times in that inning alone.

I love that he's been able to overcome a poor start to his last 2 games and end up keeping the team in the game.

previous years he would have had a melt down inning and it would have affected him the rest of the game.  next year maybe a walk, a balk, and a bloop hit won't get to him.  Great recovery today.
