Jose Rondon Hits His Way to Top in This Week's AngelsWin.com Prospect Hotlist (May 12 - May 18, 2014)

Both Nate Smith and Kyle McGowin were promoted to Double-A Arkansas today. Smith and McGowin skipped Low-A Burlington this year to pitch in Inland Empire and they're ALREADY in Double-A Arkansas. It seems that they are continuing their aggressive approach and rightfully so, they both have been dealing so far this year.

Nate Smith: 55.2 IP 3.07 ERA 0.98 WHIP

Kyle McGowin: 58.1 IP 2.93 ERA 1.14 WHIP

Mark Sappington was sent down and hopes to figure out his control problems.

Great news on Smith and McGowin!

Hopefully Sapp can improve his command. Big league stuff, great kid (funny too).

The best part about this situation is that this isn't a team promoting guys due to need -- as a group they have all shown a great deal of ability and have forced the team to consider moving them aggressively.   Best of all, Middleton, Hunter, Wesely and Ricardo Sanchez have yet to make their 2014 debuts...

Yeah, he's got the perfect assortment of pitches -- change, curve, FB at 88-89.   But his ability to spin that 12/6 for strikes at will is really impressive.

When does rookie ball start?

Nice job on this.

Wanted to send out some props to the Drew Rucinski pickup.  Nice independent ball find has been very solid in AA so far.  Anyone seem him pitch?  Was wondering what kind of stuff he has.

Great news about some of the young guys on the move.  All of a sudden, some of those SP gaps are starting to fill in.

Wow -- thats awesome.   Wonder if they will move Elliot Morris to High A soon.  He's been dominant in Low A.    I figure Morris, Nuss and Cooney will all end up at High A.

Elliot Morris was called up to High-A Inland Empire.

Sweet....

We have been talking about the rise of the A ball pitchers in the minor league forum pretty much all year, it's great to see it continue and for the promotions to come as quickly as they have.

I saw Yency Almonte made his 2014 debut last night too..   Pretty good game for him.
