Prince Fielder has herniated disk

The guy isn't dying. He has an injury that might keep him from playing baseball for a while. Why should I feel bad about his neck hurting? The guy will make about a quarter of a billion dollars over his career.

Screw the rangers. I hope he's out for the year.

Bad person!

That was usually in response to people who said he was an injury risk because of his weight even though he missed very few games through this MLB career.

That's because being very overweight will matter more in the long term. It puts more stress on your joints. Most of those people anticipated it to be more of an issue as he ages.

"The fact the Rangers never gave Fielder an in-coming physical knocks some shine off the general-manager wizardy of Jon Daniels.  Fielder, 30, appears to have been damaged goods. He admitted recently that his back problems started in Detroit last season, but he never mentioned them to the Tigers then nor did he mention them to the Rangers upon his arrival in Arlington.  How a team can commit to paying a player that kind of money — $24 million for each of the next seven seasons — without having him checked out physically is puzzling."
