who gets called up?

Recommended Posts

Just spent a little time looking at numbers for the active (40 man) pitchers in SLC.

Not encouraging. Lets hope they are all working on pitches and not actually trying to get guys out.

As an example..Shoemaker's ERA is over 6. He has started 5 games, managed only 25 IP, and in those innings he has given up

34 hits and 18 runs all earned. His K/BB% is 3-1 but that is all I see that looks decent. O/BA is 3.27. ouch.

Nothing else down there looks much better. Alvarez looks terrible. AO's Berg has been awful...

Like I said, not encouraging.

I see Maronde's name back on the roster there...was he optioned last night?

It will probably be DDLR as he was hitting 92-94 MPH the other night in a scoreless inning for the Bees.

That is definitely encouraging to hear. The Halos are going to be in great shape If DDLR returns to vintage form; Josh Hamilton coming back is going to re-energize this team, too. There's still hope for a playoff run.

I'd like to see us pick up Kendrys next month, too.

Look at the bright side, man. It's not all doom and gloom. Young pitchers are always going to be inconsistent, they're going to need some time to develop. In Shoemaker's case, the Halos only need a ~4.00 era from him. He's a backup starter for a reason.
