Open Invitation to my annual Riverfloat Party (7th annual)

Chuck

Recommended Posts

July 12th I'm hosting my 8th annual riverfloat party and you're all invited. We're expecting well over 100 people to show!

We've had Mancini and Bryan (mrwicked) come up a few times, so they can attest how much fun it is.

The Mariners are playing the Oakland A's that weekend, so you'd be able to get a ballgame in at Safeco Field if you've never been.

PM for an email invitation to the party if you're interested.

The River is looking good, as it's 80 degrees and sunny in the Pacific Northwest.

I first went 2 years ago and my wife and I had a blast. It has now turned into a yearly trip. Plus I have a good friend that lives in Seattle and he also goes. This year I plan on bringing at least one more friend to the party. Now I need to buy another raft since my popped last year :(

Drag Justin and Tia up.

I would go but I am out of town that week. Today was an amazing day in Washington. I took a side street so my commute home would be along Lake Washington. More traffic, but it was beautiful.

We should grab a beer sometime downtown or the next time the Angels are in town.

Hey Chuck, excuse my ignorance. But what is a river-float party? I gather from reading the posts that it has to do with rafts and inner tubes. But what does it entail? This is a serious question.

So about 50-75 of us launch into the river from my backyard and float down the river together for about 4-5 hours. It's awesome. Some areas have Rapids and dips, other times it's calm and smooth floating. During those times we tie our innertubes and rafts together and have adon't kick me I haven't floating party barge.

After the float, we have cars parked a few miles down the road and in the town I live in, we come back to gourmet food. Everyone brings a signature dish, we have smoked slow cooked BBQ ribs, Salmon, other dishes and BBQ meats, tons of side dishes and my homemade salsa. Everyone brings their own booze and beer. We do shots before we float down and during the night's festivities.

After the grubfest we have a live band or two play. They're incredible. They cover everything from the 70's to current t and do it exceptionally well. We dance on my backdeck, some watch the band from down by the river, the bridge or just by the cliff overlooking the river. Some are in the house or in the front yard. Others pitch a tent on our property and camp out by the river.

Good times bud, you and the misses should come up.

All that is required is a raft, life jacket (by law), and your favorite canned beverage. We hop in the river and just float for about 4 hours and take in the beauty of the Seattle mountains. It's an amazing stress reliever. Then afterwards it's BBQ and a live band. Keep in mind that the daylight in summer Seattle lasts til 10pm. So it's a long fun day. Just watch out for the crocodiles!
