He was going to the Yankees all the way. No way we'd out bid him.

That said, if he was here, our BP would just blow his stellar performances.

This team is cursed and parts are broken.

Baylor, Hamilton then Calhoun go down, same shit with the bullpen, haven't been able to beat the A's in 3-4 years.

I would agree with you but look at the A's.  They've had multiple injuries as well...then they just have the next guy who dominates.  Remember when we were making fun of them in the offseason for being so injured?

looking good -- but I agree -- first time through the league - let's see how this goes.

and, yes, the Yankees had him locked up pretty much from day one.

we should have signed someone like K-Rod again -- even if he's not the closer, we could have used him in the pen as a set up guy.

Yep, the A's have better players in positions 25-45 on the depth charts.  Everybody loses players due to injuries, it's who you replace them with that matters in the end.

Hamilton down, Shuck is the replacement.  Calhoun down, Boesch is the replacement.  Burnett down, Morande is the replacement.  DDLR down, Herrera is the replacement.  Those are just too big of a drop off in performance.  In a nutshell that's our weakness.  Wait until we get to players 35-45 on the depth chart, that could be a wipe out.

You knew he'd be effective at least his first time through the league until adjustments were made. He'll tail off in the 2nd half once teams get used to him and he encounters the heavier workload that comes with playing ball here.

Darvish is still dominating so that doesn't always apply.

Not that much heavier when you look at his workload in Japan.
