Napoli breaks finger sliding into 2nd (pic)

Recommended Posts

first hamilton, now napoli.

all the cool kids are getting this injury.

It is stupid to go head-first into first-base, but most players will admit to having done it at least once.  I know I'm one-and-done: dislocated my left-pointer a few years back doing it.  I don't know for sure, but I think it's an instinctual play for MLB'ers.  As for me, I was just running too hard, and leaning too far forward.. Haaaaah!

The fun part was going to the Doc to get it re-set.  Right after it happened I gave it a few yanks, but I had lodged it OVER the knuckle-line.  A nice fellow from the other team tried his hand and couldn't do it either, so I went to the E-room.  The Doc Novocained me, and counted to three.  At two I could feel the motion of him pulling the finger (and hear it too), and it was done.  For me, it was more annoying/embarrassing than painful, tho I do have a natural finger-off-the-bat-style swing now.

Luckily, it was in our leagues' Championship game, so I had three weeks to let it heal-up a bit.

These things never happen to A-rod or Tex-Sherry, huh?
