It's really just how the lineup is constructed. With Hamilton hurt, it's because we have Trout 2 and Pujols 3, instead of Trout 3 Pujols 4. If Ibanez was the 2 hitter it wouldn't seem as bad.

I gotta hand it to Raul, his season stats aren't good, but just like he's done for his whole career, he does come through in the clutch.  He's got a 1.218 OPS with RISP so far this year.  I'm not sure we really have a better cleanup option right now.

I understand Hamilton is hurt but it just shows how shallow our lineup is.  We have 3 good hitters, Trout Pujols and Hamilton.  

 

Then we have very anemic guys like Howie, Aybar, Freese, and Ibanez.  

 

We arent bad at the Catcher position compared to some teams around the league.

 

Then theres Calhoun, who is decent but is still developing so I am reluctant to be critical of him.

 

All in all we have 6 weak spots in the lineup, where if we faced a decent pitcher its a safe bet all 6 would go 0-4.  Then without Hamilton, we have 7 weak spots in the lineup.

He's no worse or better than Trumbo, who saw time there.

Yeah unless we're moving Howie to the 2 spot(which is hated by most people here), then we'll see Ibanez at the 4 spot.

@MikeDiGiovanna: #Angels list reliever Dane De La Rosa's injury as right shoulder irritation. That's in addition to the forearm strain he had. Not good.
