The David Freese Appreciation Thread

He's batting .140, 1HR, 3RBI, .208 OBP, only 13Ks.

ZERO Errors at 3rd base.

Admirable performance thus far.

What I like the most about this guy is his enthusiasm and excellent plate discipline. His ability to continue rallies and simply get on base is what makes him valuable. I'm just thrilled he's the Angels' cleanup hitter. Where would the offense be without him?

It's not that it seems like he's just struggling. It's seems like he just sucks.

Yeah, I think that's the thing. At least how I see it. It doesn't really feel like he's just shuffling and can't make anything happen. It feels like he's a shitty player who will never make anything happen. Because he's shitty. Like Blanton last year. You knew he wasn't gonna turn it around. I get the same feeling from Freese.

I'm not sure I believe it yet. He could still be decent and just in a rough patch. But it sure doesn't feel like that.

He was MUCH MUCH better. This guy looks like a different guy at the plate. Totally different guy.

That's why I started the Ian Stewart vs. Freese thread.

Stewart should be starting at this point.

Also, David Freese is not the reason this team is losing ballgames.  Granted, he hasn't done anything to help then win, but the entire team is doing exactly what it did last year.  Finding ways to lose games they shouldn't.

I mentioned this when he was traded, but he was awful last year and I didnt hold out much optimism for him bouncing back and having a good '14 season.

His plate discipline is now almost non-existant.  He no longer has opposite field power and he seems to never lay off a slider low and away.

As much as I like the guy, I dont think he's the solution at 3B for the Angels.

I appreciate the fact that seems to be nothing special, memorable, or noteworthy about Freeze. When I see he is coming up, I get the same feeling I had when Shea Hillenbrand stepped up to the plate - "now's my chance to go to the bathroom".

I'll call your Shea Hillenbrand and raise you a Glenallen Hill.
