More North Korea Propaganda

"It only takes being wrong once, and I don't want to be the secretary of defense who was wrong once. So we will continue to take these threats seriously," Hagel said.

Last week, North Korea's dictator Kim Jong Un ordered his missile units to prepare for attacks on the U.S. itself in retaliation for an annual exercise involving American and South Korean forces.

"Some of the actions they've taken over the last few weeks present a real and clear danger and threat to the interests, certainly of our allies," Hagel said.

The Pentagon announced Wednesday it is sending a battery of air defense missiles to the Pacific island of Guam, which recently served as a base for B-52 bombers that flew over South Korea as part of that annual exercise. Next week the exercise will include an amphibious landing and live fire drills by U.S. Marines.

Okay, this doesn't make me feel better:

U.S. officials tell NBC News they believe North Korea does have the capability to put a nuclear weapon on a missile and that they have missile deliverable nukes. Those missiles, however, cannot go more than 1000 miles. NBC's Richard Engel reports.

Remember when we got reports of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Good times.

Well, we know he's got some nukes, we just don't know if he can successfully pull off an attack. The reliability of the missiles is in doubt.

We've got several nucear-powered subs in the area, each with 24 Trident missiles. Eight warheads per missile. It will be a very short war.

It could be very short or disasterous. You can't drop a nuke on the capitol of North Korea without the fallout landing in China. How well do you think the Chinese will take nuclear rain especially if it crosses over to Bejing?

I doubt the response to a nuclear first strike is going to be conventional weapons. We are looking at another Cuban Missile Crisis here but without offshore range. Can they hit the US? Probably not but they can certainly hit Japan and that is just the same in terms of declaring all out war in the Pacific.

The best case scenario is Jong is assasinated and the family line is ousted from power by the Chinese that want nothing more than keep their economy rolling without their stupid ass neighbor causing shipping lane blockades.

The threats should be taken seriously and the US must defend its allies in the region. It makes me nervous to see countries such as North Korea and Iran develop nuclear weapons. It is only a matter of time before some crazy person decides to set off their nuclear bombs.

False.

#1, we would never drop the nuke on NK. Would they use one on themselves? Possibly.

#2, the nuclear fallout would not go to China. The global winds would carry all the nuclear fallout past Northern Japan, Russia, and into Alaska/Canada

#3, it would be a very short and a long war at the same time. Would we wreck the shit out of their military? Yes. Would it take a long time to root them all out of the caves and turn the government over peacefully? Yes. Sound familiar?
