This will be interesting if true.  It would actually make WBC games a bit more attractive for teams, especially if a player is prone to injury, or coming off an injury.

All this does is open up the possibility for owners to angleshoot the rules.

One way would be to send a player who's coming off an injury or surgery in the off-season to the WBC, claim that their injury was "aggrivated" or led to a different injury, DL them for the start of the season and have the WBC pick up the tab.

They could also DL a player who is not performing but whom they want to keep on their roster because they want to give another player a longer look, thereby expanding their roster into first few weeks of the season while avoiding having to pay the salary.

It just puts more money into the Owner's pockets.
