Big day for Tommy Hanson?

Given his up and down performance this spring, how big is today for Hanson? If he gets rocked or more importantly, cannot physically make it through the game, what's next? The rise of Richards?

I agree. The Angels are paying him too much to not let him start the first couple of months. Actually he's making 3.725 M this year.

Of course it would be wonderful for everyone's confidence if he could do anything that indicates that he's not broken.

But if he looks like crap the next couple tune up starts, I wouldn't put it past Dipoto/Scioscia to DL him to start the season. This would give him some time to work shit out in AAA while giving Richards the nod in his spot.

Sounds like it's just about being able to control his pitch count better by throwing him in a Triple-A game.

I'd feel better if he pitched well today but this start won't affect him being in the rotation. Maybe they'll DL him to start the year though?

I like Richards better (especially since he is now a Weaver imposter on the mound). But this is not a big day for Hanson. He will get his fair share of starts at the beginning of the season. 

I like Richards better too. Love his attitude much more.

I remember just a guy who could look great one game, and then crap the next, when he got his chance to start a few games in 2012. 

 

Command is still a big issue potentially for him.

AO, He is a back end of the rotation guy due to that. I was watching him quite a bit on the fields and then during the game the other day of course. I came away from that pretty impressed. I dont know if he will be any different than his past performances but I wouldn't be that worried if he was inserted into the starting rotation either.

Something was working. Love to see him at 90-93, but I'll take it. If he were to get blown up today, is be very concerned. Now I'm mildly concerned and slightly optimistic.
