Outside of getting Skaggs and Santiago, yes.

Speaking of Santiago. If the Angels acquire pitching or believe Shoemaker can be the guy, or Jose Alvarez, I can see Santiago being a lights out late inning reliever as well. He closed for the White Sox before.

If Trumbo hits .250 with 40 HR's like I think he will, I don't think anyone will blame Towers for making that deal. I think it's a win for both ball clubs.

Even .250 with 30+ HR's and it will look like a win win for both teams.

I remember when Napoli went to Texas everyone was saying he would hit 40 home runs and then when he went to Boston it was again, he is going to hit 40 bombs over the Green monster. His best was 30 in Texas and only 23 last season. Cross out 2011 career year and Naps is the same guy the Angels let go.

Trumbo started off whacking the ball hard but his slash line is already representing close to last season with a .235  average and OBP under .300. His last 5 games .105/.227/.316/.543 with 5 strikeouts. April numbers are too small of a sample size but the indicators are he is the same guy and will provide the Diamondbacks the same performance he gave the Angels and that is a lot of wasted at bats.

And put up his usual 2 WAR with shitty defense and a one-dimensional skillset.

If Skaggs even remotely gets near his potential, this deal will be highway robbery for us.  Trading young, high upside pitching for a glorified DH is no bueno.

So by the same guy we let go, you mean one of the best hitters in baseball.

This.

All Skaggs has to do is be a solid back-end guy for this to be a win for the Angels. Trumbo will be a free agent after the 2016 season and he's not going to be cheap for long. Skaggs won't be a free agent until 2020 and he will still be making league minimum by the time Trumbo is in his walk year.

If Skaggs reaches his potential and becomes a top of the rotation guy, it has a chance to be a gigantic steal for the Angels.

Oh yeah, we also received Santiago.
