2014 NFL Draft

Sam had a horrible combine and the main thing that separated him from other players at the same position who had better combines but went undrafted is game tape.  He's already publicly criticizing the fact that he was drafted in rd 7 when he said he should have gone earlier based on what he accomplished last season when he'd be better off just getting to camp and earning a roster spot.  A lot of fans aren't going to care what a guy in his personal life off the field if he produces on the field.

yup looks like they did everything they could to not draft him, then goodell realized what a PR nightmare it would be if he got passed up. I wouldn't be surprised if st Louis was "compelled" to draft him.

dude has talent. He was the SEC defensive player of the year. You trying to tell me this dude is a UDFA?

Yeah, 6th-7th rounder or UDFA

the selling point on him is he had college production, has a high motor, and high character. Very stiff athlete, doesn't have good speed or explosiveness and is undersized as a 4-3 DE, but can't shift to OLB in a 3-4 due to his limited athleticism. He's got some good pass rush moves but will be a liability vs the run due to his size

these types of guys you take very late in the draft or as a UDFA since at best we're talking about a player who gets maybe 20 snaps a game as a situational pass rusher/ST player.

Always fun to look back at these old draft threads. Man was I wrong. He turned into such a D-bag. Couldn't wait to get rid of him.

take away that spectacular one-handed catch and what do you have left? one incredibly overrated bum. he might be the GMJ of the NFL.

Uh, you might want to look at his numbers. He’s been a top five receiver every season he’s been in the league outside of his injured 2017.

Incredibly overrated isn’t even a stretch, it’s actually rather absurd.

Obviously, the Rams had better still be all in on OL Greg Robinson at the #2 overall pick.

Then maybe CB Justin Gilbert, if still available, at #13 overall?

OL Taylor Lewan would be a dream pick at #13, but he's likely moved up to top 7-8 overall.

I agree.

What a bust!
