So according to this, the Angels only have 15 million coming off the board from 2014 to 2016? That is just awful. Especially if the angels refuse to go over the luxury.

With the terrible farm system and raises to Pujols, Hamilton, Weaver and wilson, the only way the angels will be able to compete is by upping the payroll into the 160-180 range.

The angels will have 95 million dollars committed to 4 very old players in 2016.

yikes.

Their window to win is pretty much this year and next year, then it's rebuild time.

by 2015/16, the payroll number starts to come a lot closer to the CBT number so they will have some flex relative to that.

Realistically, 2014/15 is the window.  If guys like Richards, Skaggs, Santiago, Conger, Calhoun, Green, Lindsey pan out and a bunch of the farm guys restock the pen then you have a nice core to think about extending the window a bit.  Maybe guys like Cron, Cowart and a few others will be ready to contribute  Of course, not all of them need to be All-stars, but most need to be solid major leaguers.

I feel like by 2016, Albert will be a full time DH and Hamilton will either be fine or a total waste.  Weaver and Wilson will be 4/5 types.  It could be a mini rebuild year where you move CJ, Jered, Aybar, and maybe even Hamilton (wishful) for a mild reload.

Point is, the team will either need one or two key free agents or they will be in full rebuild.  A couple of add won't be out of the realm of possibility if the following year (2017), a bunch of guys come off.  They also don't have to keep everyone along the way.

Are the competitive balance tax salary totals right?

It seems like Hamilton and Trout $ aren't included.

BTW, great stuff.

Updated with the Kendrick Trade.  And took a look at the CBT, and it was off.  For some reason the chart got adjusted and didn't include the first two rows.
